Reading the whole blog must have taken a while.
I am really sorry, but I don't understand the terms you use, so I am not sure what you mean.
We always use finest box calf for our uppers, but we have also used pigskin, kid, cordovan, suede, deerskin, lizard, croc. Basically there are options, but essentially, the leather must be flexible enough to last and durable enough to survive as a shoe.
Does that help?
Best, jimmyshoejimmyshoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08051471340549178353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046771237050008716.post-27000612395125000842011-02-07T13:55:17.674+00:002011-02-07T13:55:17.674+00:00I have just finished reading your entire blog. Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your thoughts and techniques.

If I had one question...like one wish from a genie...I would ask about leathers. Here in the states it is hard to find the fine leathers and crust that are available in Europe.

I recently ran across the notion of using English kip as an upper leather in lieu of crust.

Have you ever done this? What are your thoughts pro and con?

Again thank youDWFIIhttp://www.bootmaker.comnoreply@blogger.com
