London Craft Week 2019 in review

Whew! London Craft Week 2019....what in incredible, fun and tough week that was...even harder than shoemaking...but so rewarding, meeting so many new people!

Thank you to Pui at London College of Fashion and to Tim Bent of Bentleys Antiques London for arranging the talk at LCF to inspire students to visit as much of LCW as possible. The highlight for us was meeting leather legends Valerie Michaels and Neil MacGregor.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to film, photograph and chat to us at Gieves and Purdey....

and at Oxo Tower where I was buffing up a shine as part of The Future of Craft for Yodomo

...who joined us on Thursday evening for a little Shoe Shine & Moon Shine

Making it a family affair

...who joined a workshop to hand sew an archery-inspired glove with Riina Oun

....and to stitch a dog collar with Frances Pinnock

...or who popped in to see the wonderful exhibition of student work - The New Cordwainers showing how individuals learning the same traditional craft can create so many unique looks.

Oh I nearly forgot, AND we made a film starring bespoke shoemakers Dominc Casey, Sebastian Tarek, James Kearns, Felix Jouanneau and our very own James Ducker; under the expert eye and gentle guidance of Permanent Style's Simon Crompton; and with the generous support of the Worshipful Company of Cordwainers.

You can watch it here.

That really is all folks, until next week and some behind the scenes shots of the making of  A Conversation of Cordwainers (no out takes I'm afraid), happy shoemaking!
